Leadership Crawford County is an educational program that focuses on key community issues and leadership skills. The purpose of LCC is to develop a core group of leaders who, once they complete the program, make a commitment to continue their involvement in the community.

Involvement may consist of serving on community boards and commissions; volunteering with various agencies; undertaking a community project that addresses some identified need; or even running for office.

Nominations should include the person’s name, title or position, company or organization, mailing address, telephone number and e-mail address.

The year begins with a two-day retreat centered on team building and the development of leadership skills such as communication, problem solving and conflict resolution.

Eleven monthly, day-long sessions offer solid, firsthand information and provide opportunities for dialogue about community issues including a history of area leadership, local government, law enforcement, economic development, health, human services, state government and education.

Sessions are conducted by leaders in various fields, and each session attempts to address major issues in a unique format, resulting in solutions and plans of action. The year ends with a two-day closing retreat in May.

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and be a resident of, or employed in, Crawford County for a minimum of one year.
