This year’s National Day of Prayer events will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the Crawford County Courthouse, 300 Main St. in Van Buren.

Day of Prayer serves as an opportunity for people of all ages and from all walks of faith to meet and pray for others.

Attendees at the Van Buren gathering will pray for the leadership of the city, county and state, as well as for military personnel, first responders, schools and more, said David King, Crawford County coordinator for the National Day of Prayer.

“We’ll have different leaders and lay people from the area pray at our event,” he said. “There will be a welcome and a posting of the colors, and we’ll have a couple of songs.”

As many as 200 people are expected to show up in Van Buren, according to organizers.

Related events will be the Sebastian County National Day of Prayer from noon to 1 p.m. May 3 at the Sebastian County Courthouse, South Sixth Street and Rogers Avenue in Fort Smith, and the Unite of Worship from 7:30-9:30 p.m. May 3 on the downtown square in Greenwood.
