Other area high school students will join the Van Buren High School Art Club’s art showcase night at the Fine Arts Center to benefit the Almost Home Shelter also in Van Buren.
The Bark for Art Showcase will be from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14. Admission is $5 with proceeds going to the dog rescue at 3390 E. Pointer Trail.
Kara Holland, art club sponsor, said the event will combine two great things: art and “man’s best friend.”
Bark for Art will feature students performing various artistic talents, including reading poetry, playing instruments and singing. Guest performers will be Bryan Litchford, local professional musicians, and three dance teams from Chance 2 Dance.
The event will also feature a silent auction and art sale of animal themed artworks.
VBHS Principal Eddie Tipton has donated pottery to be raffled the night of the event.
“All money raised will be donated to the Almost Home Dog Shelter and Rescue, a non-profit and volunteer ran dog shelter in Van Buren that has saved the lives of many dogs in our community since being founded in March 2017,” Holland said.
