Alma Community Outreach will host two fundraising events in November.

Alma Community Outreach is holding its Pie Auction and More fundraiser at the Boys and Girls Club of the Alma Area at 410 E. Main St., beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

There will be live music at the event, and all proceeds will go to benefit the food pantry. The outreach center provides food, clothes and basic hygiene products to local people in need.

With the support of local churches, the food pantry serves about 160 people a week. Food boxes are available Monday, Thursday and Saturday mornings.

A second fundraiser for the pantry, Alma Lights In the Park, also will begin this month.

Christmas lights at the Alma Aquatic Center will be turned on Nov. 24 and the lights show will continue through Christmas Day. The show will open at 6 p.m. and close at 10 p.m. each night.

Admission to the Alma lights show is free, but donations are accepted at the gate with all proceeds going to benefit the outreach center.

The annual lights display is the largest yearly fundraiser for the Outreach Center. The show often includes Santa Claus, carolers singing Christmas songs and other events.

This year, Mrs. Claus is expected to attend. Center volunteers will serve treats and hot chocolate.
