ALDI grocery store will hold its grand opening for the new Van Buren location on Thursday, Oct. 19, and the event will feature giveaways, product sampling and tours.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Van Buren ALDI is set for 8:25 a.m.

Following the ceremony, the first 100 customers will receive a golden ticket, each containing gift cards of various amounts, said Mark Bersted, division vice president.

Customers also can tour the store, sample ALDI brand products and enter an on-site sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of ALDI produce.

“We’re thrilled to join the Van Buren community and offer customers the benefits of the ALDI shopping experience,” Bersted said. “Our high-quality products and everyday low prices make for a combination our competitors just can’t match.”

ALDI stores also are simple to navigate, Bersted said, making it easy for shoppers to get in and out.

The Van Buren store at 2309 Fayetteville Road is part of an aggressive $3.4 billion investment plan ALDI recently announced to expand to 2,500 stores nationwide by the end of 2022.

ALDI plans to add 25,000 new jobs as part of its expansion, Bersted said. The company currently has more than 1,600 stores in 35 states, serving more than 40 million customers each month.

A rising demand for ALDI is fueling the expansion, Bersted said.

“When selecting ALDI locations, we look at a variety of factors like population density, proximity to competition, cost of property and traffic patterns,” Bersted said. “We want to be conveniently located for our growing customer base, and Van Buren is a great location for ALDI.”

ALDI is known for its cost-cutting techniques, including its innovative cart system in which shoppers insert a quarter to release a cart from the corral and receive the quarter back upon the cart’s return, and encouraging shoppers to bring their own shopping bags by not providing plastic or paper bags to carry out groceries.

“ALDI has a unique style when it comes to grocery shopping,” Bersted said. “What really makes us stand out is that we consistently deliver premium groceries at everyday low prices. And we stand by the quality of the products we sell in our stores.”

ALDI also offers a “double guarantee,” which means that when a customer is unhappy with a product, they receive a refund and a replacement product.

The Van Buren store will have five aisles and about 12,000 square feet of selling space, which Bersted said is typical for new ALDI stores - but with a new, more modern look.

“Customers will notice a focus on fresh items, including more robust produce, dairy and bakery sections and more room for customers’ favorite products,” Bersted said. “ALDI stores will also feature a modern design, open ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials.”

ALDI stores offer a variety of fruits and vegetables, USDA Choice meats and various organic, gluten-free and environmentally-friendly food and household products.

ALDI in Van Buren will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. All ALDI stores nationwide accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
