Alma Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its first Networking at Nite event on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the public library.
Networking at Nite is a new event for the Alma chamber that allows members to interact outside of a business setting, said Bryan Huff, chamber director. This first event will be open to both members and non-members, Huff said.
“It is a new benefit to offer our members and it’s another way for business leaders to network and socialize,” Huff said
Huff is hoping to attract those who are unable to attend the chamber’s monthly meetings, held at noon on the third Tuesday of each month.
“Those who can’t attend the monthly meetings can still get ‘facetime’ with other business leaders,” Huff said.
This is the first event of its sort for the Alma Chamber in a long time, he said.
“I think they tried them in the past, but … it never really caught on,” Huff said.
Alma Public Library is hosting the first event to showcase recent updates - including new lighting and flat-screen TVs for the children and teen rooms - achieved with help from the Friends of the Alma Public Library.
Door prizes will be given away during the event, Huff said. He is still looking for a sponsor for prizes, food and refreshments for the event, he said.
Also at the first Networking at Night, Huff will roll out the chamber’s new member benefit packages.
Huff has been collecting information from members about what benefits they would be interested in receiving from the chamber.
Huff plans to make Networking at Nite a quarterly event, as well as a networking breakfast, in addition to the monthly meetings, he said.
