Bekaert Corp. will be the presenting sponsor for the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren’s fifth annual Life’s an Uphill Run on April 29.

The event, which includes a chip-timed 5K race by Jaymax Race Timing Services and one-mile fun run/walk, is open to runners and walkers of all ages.

“We are excited to have Bekaert return as the presenting sponsor of our annual 5K,” said Cindy Faldon, executive director of the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren. “Bekaert is a tremendous partner to our club and a wonderful corporate citizen in our community. Their support last year helped make it one of our most successful events to date and we look forward to making this year’s event even better.”

The popular 5K race will begin and end at the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren, located within the city park. The 5K will track through the various elevations of the park and surrounding area. The one-mile fun run/walk will take participants along the perimeter of Lake Cap Bedell, located next to the club.

Prizes will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in each age division of the 5K event. All participants will receive a dri-fit event T-shirt. Check-in and registration will begin that day at 7 a.m., with the race to follow at 8 a.m.

A number of sponsorship opportunities are available, which vary in price and marketing benefits. Sponsorships begin at $100 and include placement on the Life’s an Uphill Run T-shirt.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren, which serves more than 1,300 members through its after school, summer and sports programs. The club also provides nutritious meals each weekday to participants.

Registration is now open online at the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren’s website, Advanced registration is $20. Race-day registration will be $25. Individuals may also complete a paper registration form and return to the club.
