GFWC Women’s League of Van Buren is selling a 2017 calendar featuring local firefighters to help raise funds for the organization’s clock project.

The Women’s League is working to raise more than $25,000 for a four-sided street clock for the new Veterans Park in downtown Van Buren.

The cost of the clock including shipping will be $25,353. There will be an additional expense of concrete when the clock is set.

“Our Van Buren firemen good naturedly helped with this project to raise monies to fund the clock for the new Freedom Park,” said Connie Martin, fundraising chair. “Our city is blessed with well-trained firefighters who are all EMT certified as well as hazmat certified.”

Photographer Ashley Lewis shot all the photos for the calendar.

“Women’s League would like to thank our sponsors of the calendar, because of their sponsorship, 100 percent of calendar sales will be applied to the clock,” Martin said.

Sponsors include Firefly, Settle/Jernigan, The Paint Store, Seasons, The Forging Place, Marrlin Transit Inc., Stirred, Bradford Udouj, AB Lewis Photography, Delta Investment Management, Madame’s Main Attraction and Stiletto Lash.

The Women’s League also has received two donations for the clock project. John Swanson and Donna Parker have made contributions.

“Combined with the style show proceeds we have raised $4,019.54,” Martin said. “Our seed money for this project is $3,819.54 raised from the recent style show spearheaded by Tonia Fry at the King Opera House.”

For those wishing to make a contribution, the account number at Citizens Bank & Trust Co. is #700250336, Martin pointed out.
