Alma Family Medical Clinic held an open house Tuesday to introduce the community to its newest doctor and announce it is accepting new patients.
Dr. Thanh Tan Le joined Alma Family Medical, a Sparks Clinic, as a family practice physician on Aug. 1. He works alongside Dr. Michael Kemp, Dr. Ronald Schlabach and Jamie Nash, APRN.
Le grew up in Van Buren and said he is happy to be back in the community after completing his medical degree.
“I’ve been away for 11 years and I’m glad to get back, close to my family and close to the community I grew up in,” Le said.
Le graduated from Van Buren High School, attended the University of Arkansas - Fayetteville and then graduated from University of Arkansas for Medical Services in Little Rock. He completed his family practice residency at UAMS Northeast in Jonesboro.
While in school, Le participated in a job shadowing program that allowed him to follow Schlabach at the Alma clinic. His shadowing, in both the clinic and local hospitals, helped him decide to become a doctor, he said.
As a family practice physician, Le cares for patients in all stages of life. He enjoys being in Alma and loves his work, he said.
“I really like the Alma community,” Le said. “The people here are great.”
Food and drinks catered by Stir were served during the open house on Tuesday, and area residents were able to meet Le and learn about services provided by the clinic.
Alma Family Medical Clinic currently is taking walk-ins as well as new patients.
