The City of Cedarville will hold a community appreciation day Oct. 29 at Cedarville City Park with free food and activities for area residents.
Cedarville’s Community Appreciation Day will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and have games and prizes, local entertainment and other activities for all ages, said Brenda Breshears, who is helping organize the event.
There will be no fees for vendors selling their wares, Breshears said, and booth space will be given on a first come, first served basis.
There will be no concessions sold at the event, but a free lunch of hot dogs, chips and a drink will provided, Breshears said.
“We just wanted to show our appreciation to the citizens of Cedarville and the community,” Breshears said.
Activities will include a cake walk, sack races and horseshoes and a pie auction to benefit the Cedarville Senior Inn, Breshears said.
In previous years, the city hosted an event for residents called Pirates Day that was held in July, but this year it was decided that the fall - and its cooler weather - was a more pleasant setting for an outdoor event, Breshears said.
“We just didn’t want to do anything in the middle of summer when it’s so hot people can’t enjoy it,” Breshears said.
