Van Buren Housing Authority will host a fall festival and chili cookoff Friday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at its community center at 218 S. 17th St.
Special musical guest will be the Crumbs.
There will be games, candy, prizes, bounce house, popcorn bar, hot chocolate and costume contest, according to Dayna Cochran, resident services coordinator for the housing authority.
There will be a $30 fee to enter the chili cookoff. The festival fee will be a non-perishable food item.
Cochran said VBHA currently is raising funds for the annual community fall festival.
“Last year, we served about 1,500 people and hope we can increase that amount this year,” she said. “We will provide a fun, safe atmosphere for families to come out and enjoy the fall season. Our goal is to provide, free hot dogs, hot chocolate, games, bounce houses, candy, and even a live band. This will be a very exciting event for our community.”
VBHA community center is a nonprofit organization.
“We cannot operate without the generous support of our local businesses,” Cochran said. “We hope that you will consider making a donation this year to help with the many wonderful opportunities that we provide for the children in Van Buren and surrounding communities.”
She said the community center is seeking cash donations as well as food and candy donations and product donations for a silent auction. All silent auction proceeds will be used for holiday dinners for local seniors.
“As always, we are grateful for the support this time of year,” Cochran said.
The community center is a 501(c) (3) and all donations are tax deductible.
