A Florida woman stopped on Interstate 40 for a defective tail light lamp pleaded not guilty to drug charges Wednesday in Crawford County Circuit Court.

Kimberly Irene Marchese, 42, of Sarasota, Fla., is charged with possession of marijuana with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.

Marchese’s eastbound vehicle was stopped Aug. 6 at the mile 5 Van Buren exit by Arkansas State Police Trooper Josh Elmore, who was told Marchese was traveling from Taos, N.M., to Sarasota with her 6-year-old daughters.

Elmore said he could smell the odor of marijuana before finding a small amount of high-grade marijuana, pipe and $500 in the front passenger compartment and 1.2 pounds of marijuana in several packages in the trunk.

Marchese told Elmore she was being paid $500 to transport the marijuana to Sarasota for a friend, according to the arrest report.

Van Buren Attorney Luke Gramlich entered the not guilty plea for Marchese and waived formal arraignment before Judge Gary R. Cottrell.

Other pleas heard Wednesday by Cottrell were:

• Robert Wayne Cox, 54, of Van Buren and Catherine Arline Jones, 40, of Kibler pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine and habitual offender. Cox and Jones were arrested Aug. 8 by an Arkansas State Police trooper following an accident on Arkansas 162.

• Clifton Matthew Hickey, 33, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to possession of methamphetamine with purpose to deliver, possession of marijuana and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Hickey was arrested Aug. 7 following a rollover accident on U.S. 64.

• Joey Raphael Hernandez, 34, of Mountainburg pleaded not guilty to possession of hydrocodone, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of Xanax. Hernandez was arrested Aug. 2 by an Alma police officer following a traffic stop for no seat belt.

• Justin Lee Combs, 34, of Charleston pleaded not guilty to commercial burglary, theft of property and habitual offender. Combs allegedly stole a speaker from the electronics department at the Alma Walmart Aug. 8.

• Rosendo Ross Meek, 31, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and habitual offender. Meek was arrested Aug. 2 by an Arkansas State Police trooper following a traffic stop for no vehicle license on U.S. 64.

• Angela Nicole Parden, 29, of Fort Smith pleaded not guilty to two counts of delivery of methamphetamine and habitual offender. Parden allegedly sold meth to a confidential informant for the drug task force Jan. 28 and Feb. 26.

• Cody Shiloh Garrett, 21, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to fleeing in a vehicle and driving while license suspended or revoked. Garrett is accused of fleeing from a Van Buren police officer who was attempting to stop a vehicle with no license plate.

• Robert Lee Shelley, 53, of Natural Dam pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. Shelley was arrested Aug. 7 by a Van Buren police officer after a traffic stop for fictitious tags.

• Christopher John Davis, 34, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to theft by receiving - firearm. Davis allegedly was in possession of a gun reported stolen in Sequoyah County after a burglary was reported at a local residence in the 800 block of Boulder.

• Brian Michael Howard, 37, of Van Buren pleaded not guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine. Howard was arrested Aug. 7 following a traffic stop by a Van Buren police officer for fictitious tags.

• Elijah Daigh Brown, 35, of Spiro pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a July 22 plea or status hearing on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Melissa Rhea Holt, 40, of Alma pleaded not guilty to nonsupport, alleging she owes $2,977 in child-support.

• Brandon Wilson Green, 34, of Alma pleaded not guilty to first-degree battery, felon in possession of a firearm and habitual offender. Green allegedly shot a woman in the foot June 4.

• Christopher Paul Ford, 22, of Dyer pleaded not guilty to failure to appear at a July 11 mental inquiry hearing on a charge of second-degree sexual assault.

• Emanuel Hans Banda, 37, of Alma resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Sept. 16, 2011, for possession of Roxicodone and possession of drug paraphernalia, alleging he has failed to pay fines and court costs.

• James Shannon Osborne, 43, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received Jan. 15, 2008, for theft of property, alleging he has been arrested for criminal mischief and habitual offender.

• Brody Ashlin Watson, 33, of Van Buren resisted a petition to revoke a sentence he received June 29, 2005, for residential burglary, theft of property, battery, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and reckless driving, alleging he has failed to pay restitution.
