The eighth grade classes at Butterfield Trail Middle School participated in a special event as part of their Expeditionary Unit of study. "Voices for Equality Community Day" was April 27.

Students learned from experiences of guest speakers on three different topics: American civil rights, Holocaust, and child rights. Van Buren Hall of Honor member Angie Evans Benham and her husband David Benham presented on American civil rights, Chuck King presented on the Holocaust and the present day Jewish situation, and Van Buren Police Officer Heather Hoffsommer presented on child rights.
