Misty Watt, activities director at Highlands of Van Buren Health and Rehabilitation, celebrates with Rubye Tillinghast at her 104th birthday party. Tillinghast was born May 25, 1911, in Stamps, and was the eighth of nine children. A widow, Tillinghast is a retired bookkeeper, former volunteer for the Fort Smith voting poll and member of Grand Avenue Baptist, Jolly Travelers and Audubon Society. She was friends with former Fort Smith Mayor Ray Baker and Ruth Armstrong. Tillinghast loves to travel and drove until she was 96.
