Ethel Irene Bowers Eatherly, 88, of Van Buren passed from this life Wednesday, May 13, 2015. She was born June 20, 1926, in Parkin, Ark., to the late Grover Divas Bowers and Willie Leona Haliburton Bowers. Ethel was a Christian prayer warrior for the Lord and of the Assembly of God faith. In her younger years, she enjoyed working in dress shops and children’s clothing. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and studying the word of God. In her recent years Ethel learned new technology and Facebook became her tool to not only spread the good news of the Lord, but also to communicate and share with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Thad Cleo Eatherly; a son, Kenneth Doyle Eatherly; a grandson, Terry Lynn Miller; two sisters, Dorothy Massena and Glenda Henrichs; and a brother, Grover Bowers.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda Diana Miller of Rogers; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Eatherly of Atascadero, Calif.; two grandsons, Jeffrey Miller and wife Lisa of Rogers and Michael Miller and wife Keri of Sand Springs , Okla.; two granddaughters, Jaylene Westphal and husband Roger of Lakewood, Calif., and Alicia Borlodan and husband George of Atascadero, Calif.;14 great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews in the area, including Ramona Seubold and Rhonda Chambersm both of Van Buren, and Jeanie Thompson of Alma.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
The family will visit with friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
