Betty Jo Woods, 86, of Alma passed away Monday, May 11, 2015. She was born May 19, 1928, in Alma to the late Benjamin and Lillie Orrick Denton. She was a retired administrative assistant with the Alma School District. For more than 10 years, she volunteered for the Sparks Women’s Auxiliary and also worked in the gift shop at the hospital. In 2008, she received a distinguished alumni award from the Alma Education and Arts Foundation. She was preceded in death by her husband, "Mick" Woods.
She is survived by two sons, Mike Woods and wife Mary of Stillwater, Okla., and Rex Woods and wife Jennifer of Alma; four grandchildren, Jason Woods of Little Rock, Nathan Woods of Stillwater and Laura Coleman and Hayden Woods, both of Fayetteville; and a great-granddaughter, Nora Coleman of Fayetteville.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Chapel. Burial will be private at Alma Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
