One man was killed and two women injured in an accident Sunday involving pedestrians and three vehicles.
David Seth, 39, and Rebecca Seth, 38, of Van Buren were walking north across Interstate 40 around 9 a.m. Sunday morning when they were struck by an eastbound Toyota Corolla driven by Callie Spahn, 20, according to an Arkansas State Police fatal crash report.
David Seth landed in the left traffic lane and was struck again by a Chevrolet Camaro driven by Lauren Morse and was drug several hundred feet by the car, according to the report.
Rebecca Seth also was struck again, by a Jeep driven by Kenzie Watson.
David Seth died at the scene of the accident. Rebecca Seth and Spahn were taken to Mercy Fort Smith, the report states.
The couple’s two children were present at the time of the accident and now are in the care of family members, according to the Arkansas State Police.
Sunday’s accident follows another fatal crash at about 6:20 p.m. Thursday, in which Alma resident Richard Thomas Gaither, 55, drove his Yamaha motorcycle into the back of a Chevrolet SUV on Arkansas 162, according to the fatal crash report.
Michaella Hughes, 35, of Van Buren was making a left turn onto Sunnyside Road from the eastbound lane when an unknown vehicle passed her on the right, the report states.
Gaither, traveling behind the unknown vehicle, crashed into the left real wheel of Hughes’ SUV and was killed. Hughes and her two juvenile passengers were not injured, the report states.
Road conditions were reported as clear and dry in both incidents.
