FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas added some help at linebacker when Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard High’s Randy Ramsey verbally committed Sunday afternoon.

Ramsey announced his plans after making an official visit to Arkansas over the weekend, according to Hawgs Illustrated. Rivals.com and ESPN.com rate the 6-foot-3, 205-pound Ramsey as a three-star prospect on a five-star scale. He also had scholarship offers from Kentucky, North Carolina State, Rutgers and Illinois.

Ramsey — whose lead recruiter was Arkansas linebackers coach Randy Shannon — recently was named the South Player of the Game at the National Underclassmen All-American game, according to the Miami Herald. The newspaper reported that Ramsey recorded three sacks and five tackles for losses in his team’s win.

Ramsey is the 21st player to sign or commit to Arkansas for the 2014 class.

Verbal commitments are non-binding. National signing day is Feb. 5.
