Crawford County Speedway held its final race of the season with seven drivers winning their respective racing class.

Dalton McKenize of Van Buren, who picked up his 12th win in the final race of the season, was also the E Modified’s champion.

Zane Hunter, a 14-year-old from Alma, was able to hold off Chris Perkins to win the Street Stock class. Hunter won seven races this season while Perkins had six wins.

Mulberry’s Duane Rose only had one win to credit in the Grand National class, but sill came away the 2013 title as being one of more consistent drivers in the class. Rose, along with Clifton Drummond, last season’s champ, only missed one race this season. Rose won back on June 8, but had nine Top 3 finishes out of 32 events.

Rusty Lemonier (Alma) had nine wins and 19 Top 3 finishes to clinch the Mini Stock championship.

Josh Jones (Spiro) won six races to wrap up the Front Wheel Drive class.

Jason Foster (Springdale) who had nine wins and 18 Top 3 finishes was the A Modified champion.

Jennifer Robertson won six of the seven Powder Puff races and took the championship.

Jess Sims of Stillwell taking home the $500 to win the Grand National event among a field of 23 cars. Mountainburg’s James Drummond, the 2012 Grand National Champion, made several attempts to take over the lead but was unable to hold on. Drummond finished with a close second followed by Hank Long finished, Ricky Smith (Muldrow) and Jamison English rounding out the Top 5.

Mini Stocks were also out in force Saturday night with 21 drivers competing. Chris Tuck (Mulberry), the 2012 Champion Mini Stock champion, led from flag to flag for the win and the $200 that was up for grabs. Charles Parker (Alma) another former CCS Champ took second followed by Kevin McSperritt of Tulsa, Rusty Lemonier, the 2013 Mini Stock Champion, and Jimmy Belt of Ozark.

Street Stock rookie Zane Hunter (Alma) took over an early lead looking for a win and to clinch the 2013 championship.

While leading 15 laps of the 30 lap event Hunter developed mechanical problems and had to exit the track. Mallory Pinkerton (Cedarville) and Eddie Rich were racing hard for second, but Pinkerton managed to grab the lead and went on to win the event with Rich settling for second. Jaylen Brewton (Kibler) was third with Sambo Parmenter (Cedarville) and Kendall Hasty (Huntsville) in fourth and fifth respectively.

In the 360 E Modified, Dalton McKenzie (Van Buren) led the whole event, but with some concern on the last two laps when he had some kind of problem. McKenzie’s car slowed down, but managed to creep across the finish line in front of Shawn Pinkerton (Cedarville). Van Buren’s Chuck Smith out in a new Modified finished third followed by Mike Hines (Van Buren) and Eric Beshoner (Fort Smith).

Jimmy Hamilton (Van Buren) picked up his first Front Wheel Drive win with Josh Jones of Spiro right on his heels throughout the 30-lap event. Jones had to settle for second with Cody Smith (Van Buren), Randy Payne (Cedarville) and David Steele rounding out the Top 5.

Hank Long of Stilwell set the fast overall time with 16.365 driving in the Modified class. Dalton McKenzie (Van Buren) got the fastest E Modified time with 16.552. Street Stock’s fast time was set by Eddie Rich of Stilwell with 18.843. Chris Tuck set the fast time of 18.576 in the Mini Stock with Josh Jones of Spiro getting a 19.013 in the Front Wheel Drive.

The championship races at Crawford County Speedway began with a pre-race tailgate party.

More than 300 race fans and drivers were treated to a free barbeque with the drivers signing "Hero Prints" of their race cars during this time. A total of 102 drivers signed in to race the 2013 season finale at the Speedway.

The Driver’s Awards Banquet will be Dec. 7 at Choppeski Hall in Van Buren. Catfish Hole will cater the event and advance ticket information can be found at www.crawfordcountyspeedway.net.
