Harding rise in regional rankings

SEARCY — Coming off victories at the Great American Conference Championship, Harding’s cross country teams both moved up in the USTFCCCA Division II Central Region Rankings.

Both teams will compete at the NCAA Central Region Championships on Nov. 9 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Harding’s men, up three spots to No. 7 in the Central Region, will have to finish in the top five at the regional meet to advance to the NCAA National Championship in Spokane, Wash., on Nov. 23. Harding’s women moved up to No. 8 in the region and must finish in the top four to move on to nationals.

The GAC championships were the 40th conference title for Harding’s men and the 20th for Harding’s women.

SAA honors Scott

CONWAY — Hendrix College sophomore Jeffrey Scott was named the Southern Athletic Association Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday.

Scott helped the Warriors retain the Crystal Trophy at the Arkansas Division III Championships against the University of the Ozarks on Wednesday. The Glenwood native placed second overall with a 4.1 mile time of 22:20.70.

Scott and the Warriors will compete at the SAA Championships in Mount Berry, Ga. on Saturday.

Cromwell grabs women’s recognition

CONWAY — Hendrix College junior Nicholle Cromwell was named the Southern Athletic Association Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday.

Cromwell helped the Warriors retain the Crystal Trophy at the Arkansas Division III Championships against the University of the Ozarks on Wednesday. Comwell, from Houston, Texas, took first place with a 5k time of 20:18.50, shaving 1:11 off her previous season-best 5k time.

Cromwell and the Warriors will compete at the SAA Champhionships on Saturday in Mount Berry, Ga.
