RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys football team (3-4, 3-3 Great American Conference) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, hosting Ouachita Baptist (5-1, 5-1 GAC) for Homecoming.
Kickoff from Thone Stadium at Buerkle Field is set for 3 p.m.
Both teams are looking to get back into the win column after setbacks last week. The Wonder Boys fell 45-14 to fifth-ranked Henderson State at the Murphy USA Boomtown Classic in El Dorado, while Ouachita Baptist dropped a tough 36-33 decision to Harding.
The Wonder Boys’ offense will look to put points on the board against an OBU defense that has been stingy thus far this season. The Tigers allow just 19.8 points per game, second in the GAC, while scoring 37.8 points per game. The Tigers boast the GAC’s second-best rush attack, averaging 189.8 yards per game, second only to Harding’s 403.3 yards per game.
The Tigers rank at or near the top of every statistical category in the GAC, while tailback Chris Rycraw leads the GAC with 10 touchdowns, and is second in the league with 121.0 all-purpose yards per game.
Ouachita has scored 24 points or more in each of their six games this season, scoring 45 or more three of those times.
However, the Wonder Boys have made great strides on defense. Defensive back Deandre’ Bonner ranks eighth nationally with 1.7 passes defended per game and 10th nationally in interceptions, averaging 0.6 per contest.
The Tech/Ouachita game will be carried live on 100.9, KWKK-FM. Live audio, video, and statistics are available at www.arkansastechsports.com.
