The Cedarville Pirates reached the finals of the 3A Region 1 baseball tournament with a 11-7 win over Elkins on Tuesday.
The finals were played later that day against the winner of the Lamar-Lavaca contest.
Cedarville will be either the No. 2 or No. 1 seed with the win when the state tournament begins at Harding Academy on Thursday.
With the win in the regionals final, the Pirates will play again at noon on Thursday. A loss books a 2:30 p.m. appointment on Thursday. The quarterfinals will be held Friday with the semifinals on Saturday.
The state title game is Friday at Baum Stadium at 7 p.m.
The Pirates took an early 4-0 lead, but Elkins tied the game up. From there Cedarville just kept inching ahead for the win.
Cedarville 10, Danville 0
Cedarville jumped up on Danville to pick up a berth to the Class 3A state baseball tournament.
The Pirates led 9-0 after the first inning with six hits and an error.
Bryan Shelley, Corey Fincher, Jamie Chandler and Evan Fincher each drove in two runs during the inning. Chandler and Corey Fincher had singles while Shelley had a double and Evan Fincher hit a triple.
Korbin Polly earned the win with just four innings of work. He threw 41 pitches for eight strikeouts with one hit and he hit one batter with a pitch.
Shelley threw 17 pitches with three strikeouts and one walk.

Greenbrier won the first game, 11-3 and the nightcap, 3-2, on Monday as Alma wrapped up the regular season.
Shaylee Sevenstar hit her first home run in the first game as Alma took an early lead, but couldn’t hold it.
Alma (16-8, 7-5) will be the No. 3 seed from the 5A-West at the 5A state tournament and will play Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. at Hope.
