Alma opened the season with a win at home Thursday night as the Airedales defeated Gravette 21-6.

Conner Stacy scored twice as he hauled in 85 yards and added a touchdown reception. He also returned an interception for another score.

Hunter McAlister threw for 170 yards and a TD.

Landon Burkhart scored on an 11-yard run.

“Defense played outstanding all night,” said Alma coach J.D. Coursey. “Burkhart played great on defense. Alex Morgan also played great from his defensive end spot.”

Coursey also noted Nathan Smith was very effective at center.

Cedarville 44, Mountainburg 6

Darryl Kattich led with seven carries for 131 yards and two touchdowns. Kattich also had two catches for 30 yards.

Hayden Pertain added seven totes for 49 and two more scores. Bruce Turney had four carries for 30 yards with a touchdown. Turney also had a defensive touchdown.

Cody Dickens was 3 for 3 with 55 yards. Josh Roam had one catch for 30 yards.

Other Scores

Van Buren fell to Rogers 24-0 in the season openers for both teams.

In the River Valley Conference, Kimmons edged Darby 10-7 and Chaffin blanked Rogers 35-0. Harrison won its contest against Mountain Home and the Greenwood-Shiloh Christian game was canceled.
