It has been a whirlwind of destination changes for the Arkansas Activities Association State Softball Tournament finals.

The games were originally scheduled to be played at the University of Arkansas’ Bogle Park, but were subject to move to the University of Central Arkansas’ Farris Field.

UofA was selected as a regional host for the NCAA Tournament Division I softball bracket.

It was chosen as one of 16 host sites for the tournament, which will start at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

“Due to these circumstances, all championship softball games will be played at Farris Field on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas,” AAA said in a statement released Sunday night. “The AAA would like to thank UCA, Conway High School and the City of Conway for agreeing to host these games in such short notice.”

However, on Sunday night, Central Arkansas was selected to host a regional of the Postseason National Invitational Softball Championship, causing the state softball finals to be moved for the second time in 24 hours.

“Sunday evening, UCA was invited to host the NISC Softball Tournament, which will take place May 16 through May 18,” AAA said in a press release Monday. “Due to these unforeseen circumstances, the AAA will move the softball finals to Benton High School.”

All events for the State Softball Finals will occur at original scheduled times.

Friday’s action kicks off at 10 a.m. Friday with the 2A State Championship game between Poyen and Quitman, going through the Friday’s final game with a start time of 5:30 p.m.

Greenbrier’s championship game against 5A West foe Farmington will keep its scheduled time of 10 a.m. Saturday at Benton High School.
