Cedarville takes first and second at the junior high meet. Avery Shelly and Bryce Calhoun earn high-point awards.

The Cedarville Lady Pirates won the 3A Region 1 West track and field meet in Mansfield on April 19 while the Pirates took second as a pair of Cedarville athletes took the top-point awards.

Avery Shelly won the three sprint events by taking first in the 100 (14.07 seconds), the 200 (28.7) and the 400 (1 minute, 8.39 seconds). Shelly was also third in the long Jump and second in the shot put.

Bryce Calhoun finished with 54 individual points after winning four events. Calhoun won the 110-meter hurdles (18.16), the 300 hurdles (43.99), the long jump (20 feet, 0.5 inches) and the triple jump (39-0.75). He was also second in the 100 and third in the high jump.

Easton Mongold won two events as he took first in the shot put (41-6.5) and discus (118-3).

Katie McBroom finished first in the triple jump (32-2) and clinched the 800 (second), the 200 (third), 400 (third) and the pole vault (sixth).

Kennedy Vision earned first in the shot put (33-2.5) and second in the discus.

The Lady Pirates relay team won the 400 (56.69) and was third in both the 1,600 and the 3,200.

Daniel Smith placed first in the 1,600 (5:35.28).

Chloe Morrow collected five events nabbing second in both the 200 and long jump. Morrow was third in the 100 hurdles, fourth in 100 and fifth in the pole vault.

Kamryn Vinson nabbed second in both hurdle events and was seventh in the triple jump.

Jordan Hightower took third two events, the 800 and the 1,600. Katie Oden captured fourth in the triple jump.

Maleah Willet placed fifth in the 100 and eighth in the 400.

McKenna King (300 hurdles) and Hannah Aldridge (300) were fifth in their respective events.

Katie Oden captured sixth in the 300 hurdles and seventh in the pole vault. Makayla Pearcy nabbed sixth in the 800 and tied for seventh in the high jump. Leighann Franklin seized sixth- (400) and eighth-place (shot put) finishes.

Rylee Merchka was sixth in the shot put and Anna Hightower tied for seventh in the high jump.

Jon Stewart collected second in both the 400 and 110 hurdles, sixth in the high jump and seventh in the 200.

Josh Lind clinched second in the triple jump and fifth in the 400. Max McGill took third in the pole vault and fifth in 300 hurdles.

Relay teams placed third in the 3,200, fifth in the 1,600 and sixth in the 400.

Zach Aldridge secured fourth in the 300 hurdles and seventh in the 110 hurdles.

Harold Dean Smith and Nick Moore tied for fourth in the pole vault.

Jose Chavez secured sixth in three events (400, long jump and pole vault) and was eighth in the 200.

Ransom Merechka (800) and Josh Roam (discus) were seventh in their respective events.

The Lady Pirates finished with 218 points, edging out Mansfield (196.5). No one else got more than 80 points. Elkins placed third (78), and in front of Greenland (66.5), Charleston (27) and Haas Hall (19).

Elkins won the boys’ division with 192 points followed by Cedarville (169), Mansfield (124), Greenland (55), Charleston (38) and Haas Hall (27).
