Murel Jay Moore, 66, of Alma died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at his home. He was retired from Whirlpool Corp., Army veteran of the Vietnam War, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans in Alma and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Mountainburg and of the Pentecostal faith. He was born June 5, 1947, in Locke.
He is survived by his wife, Reta Moore; two sons, Raymond Moore of Mountainburg and Nathan Moore of Alma; a stepdaughter, LeAnn Shipp of Fort Smith; a stepson, Kevin Robertson of Fort Smith; two sisters, Gladys Moore of Van Buren and Ruth Moore of Fort Smith; three brothers, James Moore of Van Buren, Lee Moore of Alma and Ivan Moore of Mountainburg; and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ocker Chapel of Alma with burial at Locke Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Terry, Ricky, Frank, Jimmy and Steve Moore and Randy Ray.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mountainburg Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.
