Dr. Travis Goodnight, 39, of Alma died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at a local hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born Aug. 19, 1974, in Shawnee, Okla. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and the OU College of Medicine. His residency was at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita. He was a general surgeon in Van Buren. He was passionate about the Oklahoma Sooners, golf and fishing, and he loved his family. Everyone who ever met Travis loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Missy Goodnight of the home; daughter, Lexi Goodnight of the home; son, Kade Goodnight of the home; his parents, Gene and Linda Goodnight of Seminole, Okla.; four sisters, Kim Goodnight of Broken Arrow, Okla., Sundy Goodnight of Jacksonville, Fla., Masha Goodnight of Seminole and Victoria Goodnight of Seminole; and three brothers, Dwayne Goodnight of Wolf, Okla., Michael Goodnight of Broken Arrow and Cody Goodnight of Norman, Okla.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Freewill Baptist Church in Van Buren under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren.

The family will visit with friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.

Dr. Travis Goodnight was cremated under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home.
