Harold Douglas White, 87, of Van Buren died Monday, July 2, 2018, at his home. He was born May 23, 1931, in Prescott, received a bachelor of arts degree from Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia and a master of divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He served as an Army chaplain from 1959 to 1972. He then farmed for 10 years and worked for the Department of Veterans Outreach Program with the Arkansas Employment Agency for 10 years, and then as a volunteer auxiliary chaplain at the-then Summit Medical Center in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Joy Lovelady of Van Buren and Janice Brooks of El Dorado; a son, Joe White of Kibler; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.

Funeral was July 6 at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with burial at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith.

Pallbearers were Mark Arnold, David Crabtree, Clifton Gunn, Robert Gregory, Ralph Smith and Ricky Sanders.
