Neyron D. “N.D.” Edwards, 95, of Alma passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at his home.

He practiced law in Van Buren from 1951 until his retirement in 1987. He served two terms as prosecuting attorney for the 15th Judicial District Court, which included Crawford, Franklin and Logan counties. He also owned and operated Edwards Abstract Co. until his retirement. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, flying 56 combat missions as a B-17 bomber pilot with the 15th Air Force stationed in Italy. For his combat service, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, the European Theater Ribbon and his group was awarded the Presidential Citation.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Ray Edwards; both parents, Duran and Laura Sue (Nelson) Edwards; one brother, R.L. Edwards, who was killed in action in WWII; and one grandson, Michael Scott Edwards.

He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Anna Mae (Farmer) Edwards of the home; one daughter, Carol Ann Edwards of Alma; three grandchildren, James Edward Martin of Alma, Melissa Renee Ruby of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Miranda Sue Goins of Sallisaw, Okla.; and three great-grandchildren.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Van Buren with burial of cremains at Gracelawn Cemetery.
