Sandra Lee (Rouw) Smith, 78, of Van Buren passed away Monday, March 19, 2018, in Van Buren. She was born Dec. 15, 1939, in Van Buren to the late Ralph Edward Rouw and Ruth (Capp) Rouw. She was a service representative at Southwestern Bell in Fort Smith from 1978 to 1999. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Carl Jay Smith; and her brother, David R. Rouw.
She is survived by four children, Dr. James R. Smith, recently of New Mexico, Jo Dawn and husband John Minden of Paris, Ark., Dr. John D. Smith of Van Buren and Dr. Julia Kennefick and husband Dr. Daniel Kennefick of Fayetteville; sisters, Vicki Brantley, Sheri Martin, Jackie Holmes and husband Jerry, Candace Fraley and husband Jay and Jennifer Kelly, all of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren, Sara Minden, Stephen Minden, Richard Smith, Katie Smith, Amanda Smith, Cian Kennefick, Finn Kennefick, Dara Kennefick, Clara Smith and Andrew Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Edward Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Burial of cremated remains will be held in a private ceremony at a later date.
The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home, 4100 Alma Highway, Van Buren.
