Dr. Nancy Gail Hawking, 63, of Alma passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at a local hospital. She was a retired executive director of Imaging Sciences at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith, graduated from Alma High School in 1972 and a graduate of University of Arkansas Fayetteville and University of Arkansas Little Rock with numerous degrees. She was also a member of the Alma First Baptist Church. Nancy was born Oct. 26, 1954, to the late William and Vona (Anglen) McCain.

Survivors include two daughters, Marianne Darien of Las Vegas, Nev., and Dr. Megan Cercek of Reno, Nev.; one son, Matthew Hawking of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister, Donna Scoggins of Alma; and four grandchildren, Madeline Darien, Jaden Darien, Clary Cercek and Kennedy Hawking.

Service was Jan. 23 at First Baptist Church of Alma with interment at Pope Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home of Alma.

Pallbearers were Jim Scoggins, Russell Scoggins, Ty Darien, John Eric Cercek and Tyler Sanders.
