Kay Velta Shepard, 73, of Mountainburg passed away Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at a local hospital. She was a retired cook for Mountainburg Public Schools and of the Assembly of God faith. She was born April 3, 1944, in Fort Smith to the late Merle and Katie (Dollard) Self. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Shepard; and a grandson, Charles DeWayne Shepard.
Survivors include three sons, Henry Earl Shepard and wife Judy, Timothy Michael Shepard Sr. and wife Brenda and Mark Anthony Shepard Sr. and wife Tammy, all of Mountainburg; one sister, Sheila Perryman of Rudy; one brother, Donnie Self of Mountainburg; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was Jan. 5 at Mountainburg Assembly of God with interment at Locke Cemetery under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Alma.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Timothy Michael Shepard Jr., Tony Shepard, Joshua Shepard, Aaron Dickson, J.J. Jefferson, Brayden Shepard, Haiden Crain and Shaun Verkuilen.
