James “Jimmy” H. Wagnon, 69, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, in his home. He was born Aug. 11, 1948, to the late Ryan and Ruby Wagnon in Fort Smith. He served three years in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He was a police officer for 25 years in Pahokee, Fla., retiring in January 1998 and returning to Van Buren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Ruby (Rozell) Wagnon; two sisters, Wilma Slonaker and Doris Hall; and two brothers, Edwin Wagnon and Kelly B. Wagnon.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday with military honors at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.
He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Mary (Miedema) Wagnon of the home; two beloved pets, Honey and Megan; one brother, Wayne Wagnon and wife Gerri of Illinois; and multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews.
