Darrell Weston Johnson, 85, of Fort Smith passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, at his home. He was an attorney, practicing law in Van Buren and Fort Smith for more than 50 years, U.S. Navy veteran and a graduate of the University of Arkansas School of Law. He was a past state senator from 1969-1973. He was preceded in death by one son, Marshall Smith Johnson II; and both parents, Marshall and Agnes (West) Johnson.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Gracelawn Cemetery arbor with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gray (Loughridge) Johnson of the home; one daughter, Kelly Barthelemy and husband Matt of Palo Alto, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Sarah Johnson of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; one son, Kevin Johnson and wife Nancy O’Neill of Baltimore, Md.; one stepson, John D. Wright of Fort Smith; two sisters, Jo Caughlin of Denver, Colo., and Eleanor Carol Purcell of North Little Rock; one brother, Richard Johnson of Little Rock; and eight grandchildren.
