Barbara Ann Patterson, 74, of Alma passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 20, 1943, in Claremore, Okla., to the late Robert and Geneva McClendon. She was a candy maker at Kopper Kettle for 22 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bobbie Hefley; two brothers, Robert and Roy McClendon; and a niece, Christie Gilstrap-Morgan.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Patterson of the home; a daughter, Rhonda Tomlinson and husband Tony of Maud, Okla.; a son, Brad Patterson and wife Gina of Damascus, Ark.; a sister, Beverly McClendon of Rudy; a brother, Randy McClendon of Alma; four grandchildren, Andrea Jeffcoat, Derrick Smotherman, Tyler Smotherman and Ryan Smotherman; and a great-grandchild, Brently Smotherman.

A family-hosted graveside memorial service will be 2 p.m.Monday at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Cremation is under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.
