Alberta Burkholder, 68, of Chester passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2017, in Fort Smith. She was born Feb. 23, 1949, in Augusta, Kan., to the late George and Izola Scott. She was retired from Whirlpool. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelly Marie Burkholder.

She is survived by three daughters, Steffeny Palmer of Alma, Loretta Turner of Van Buren and Melissa Burkholder of Mountainburg; a son, David Burkholder of Chester; five sisters, Doris Grunden of Seattle, Wash., Marlene Mason of Bradford, Ark., Mary Trout of Jay, Okla., Gale Tracy of Sheboygan, Wis., and Helen Maskrid of Wichita, Kan.; a brother, E.J. Scott of Jay, Okla.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A family-hosted graveside memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Vaught Cemetery in Mountainburg. Cremation was under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren.

The family will visit with friends immediately following at the Chester Freewill Baptist Church in Chester.
