Charlie Wells, 65, of Alma passed away Monday, May 15, 2017. He was born Oct. 13, 1951, in Fort Smith to the late Edward and Rosemary Wells. He was of the Catholic faith, a retired law enforcement officer of 30 years with Sebastian County, Crawford County and the City of Dyer, a commercial and private pilot and an auctioneer. His most recent endeavors were private investigator, process server and Crawford County deputy coroner. He loved ham radio; everyone knew him as KM5GJ.
He is survived by his wife, Pam of the home; three daughters; Angie Seal and husband Jesse, Michelle Lovell and husband Stephen and Sara Newton, all of Alma; and four grandchildren, Cody and Briar Lovell, Hannah Seal and Aiden Newton.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Concord Baptist Church, 6105 Alma Highway, Van Buren, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Smith.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Lovell, Danny Bryant, Jim Freeman, Trip Sears, Aaron Beasley, Jay Endicott, Cody Lovell and Phillip Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and members of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, Coroner’s Office and Amateur Radio Club.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at Lewis-Roberts Funeral Chapel, 4817 Kelley Highway, Fort Smith.
