Melbourne L. Allenbaugh, 92, of Van Buren, formerly of Olivehurst, Calif., passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017, in Fort Smith. He was born in Meeker, Okla., to the late Lawrence and Velma Allenbaugh. He was a retired carpenter with the Local No. 49 in Yuba City, Calif., a member of Freedom Freewill Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW in Olivehurst. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II in the 77th Naval Construction Battalion. He was preceded in death by a son, Connie Lee Allenbaugh; a stepdaughter, Diane Faucher Breeden; and his first wife, Lorell Allenbaugh.
He is survived by his wife, Velma of the home; a daughter, Laurel Brusseau and husband Mike of Brainerd, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Linda Horton of Van Buren; two sons, Steven Allenbaugh of Alleghany, Calif., and David Allenbaugh of Brainerd, Minn.; a stepson, Mike Faucher and wife Donna of Van Buren; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Freedom Freewill Baptist Church in Alma under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. Interment will take place at Sierra View Memorial Park in Olivehurst, Calif., under the direction of Sierra View Mortuary of Olivehurst.
