Bobby Wayne Gist, 57, of Van Buren passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at his home. He was a Church of Christ preacher and a shift lead at Walgreens in Fort Smith at the time of his passing. He received his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University Tahlequah, Okla., and also a degree in ministry.

He is survived by his wife, Robin (Kurth) Gist of the home; six daughters, Lauren Rice and husband Chase, Kathryn Sizemore and husband Christian and Brittain Gist, all of Sallisaw, Jordan Walker and husband Jeff of Stigler, Shannon Morters of Fort Smith and Katelyn Jones and husband Casey of Van Buren; one son, Kyle Maslakow and wife Kristin of Shady Point; his mother, Jo Ann (Gaskins) Gist of Spiro; annd four grandchildren, Jolee, Avery, Ashlyn and Hunter.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ocker Memorial Chapel in Van Buren with cremation to follow under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home in Van Buren.

The family will visit with relatives and friends on Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to service.
