A Memphis man has been arrested for allegedly robbing two elderly women in a Van Buren parking lot.

Marion Deandre Jackson is being held in the Crawford County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond on two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of felon in possession of a firearm., according to a news release from Detective Jonathan Wear of the Van Buren Police Department.

Wear said officers responded April 12 to the Hampton Inn and Suites in reference to a robbery. When they arrived, they were told that two women, ages 71 and 73, had been robbed by a black male suspect in the parking lot.

The victims were reportedly walking out to their car when the suspect appeared holding a handgun, Wear said. He said, "Give me all your money." The women complied, and the suspect left without causing injury, according to the news release.

The suspect allegedly left with one of the victim’s purses that contained an undisclosed amount of cash.

About an hour later, a Crawford County deputy located the suspect at a truck stop in Dyer. He was arrested and property was recovered, including the weapon used in the robbery, Wear said.
