The Torch Club and Keystone Club at the Boys and Girls Club in Van Buren will sponsor a fun run to help raise awareness and funds for the Garner Animal Rescue.

Paws for Cause fun run and walk will be Saturday, Nov. 16, beginning at 8 a.m. at Mike Myer Riverfront Park in Van Buren.

Participants are encouraged to bring their dogs on leashes.

"This has been in the works since the summer program when club members went on a field trip to the rescue and saw first-hand the need in our area for this," said Cindy Faldon, chief professional officer for the club. "Please help our kids in their journey to the world of awareness and fundraising."

Paws for the Cause also will include the raffle of a hand-crafted dog house constructed by students at Van Buren High School and silly dog contests: Most festive, cutest, smallest, biggest, longest tail, most spunk, ugliest and birds of a feather.

Pre-registration is $20; day of the race $25. Registration forms and payment should be sent to the Boys and Girls Club of Van Buren, 1403 City Park Road, P.O. Box 443, Van Buren, AR 72957.
