Friends of the Van Buren Public Library are calling on local businesses to become members with a donation that will help raise money to replace the library’s broken digital sign.
Friends of the VBPL are looking to replace the existing sign, which is obsolete and cannot be repaired. Costs for a new digital sign range around $16,000.
The sign is used to advertise library programming and events.
Local businesses can help the library by becoming members. Business memberships range from $50 to $1,000.
Business members receive a personal thanks, a display for their business, recognition that the business is a continuing supporter of library services and programs, and a tax deduction.
Donations help the library pay for needed projects not covered in its budget, promote reading and literacy, and advocate for equal access to library services.
Individuals and families also can become members, of course, and students and seniors receive a discount.
To become a member, contact the VBPL at (479)474-6045 or go to the library at 1409 Main Street.
Friends of the Library support local libraries by raising money to fund programs, pay for materials and equipment, and promote reading and literacy. They also do volunteer work and serve as advocates for continued library services for all.
Meetings for the Friends of the VBPL are held on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
