Arkansas Blood Institute’s bloodmobile will make a stop at Summit Medical Center in Van Buren Wednesday.
Those wishing to give blood can register to donate between 9:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. Everyone who donates blood will receive hot/cold gel pack, health screenings and donor rewards points.
While walk-ins are accepted, participants are encouraged to make an appointment by calling 471-4300 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Both associate and public donations are encouraged.
Donations often decline during the holidays when schools are not in session. Thirty percent of the area’s blood supply comes from donation drives held at local colleges and high schools, according to Dan Miller, a blood program consultant with ABI.
According to ABI, every two seconds someone in America gets a blood transfusion and an estimated 5 million patients will need blood this year alone. Regular blood donations are needed to maintain a safe and adequate blood supply for patients in our hospital and community.
