White Dairy, Inc., has announced the retirement of Don Tankersley from his position as CEO of the company.

The move was announced on Friday, Oct. 19.

White Dairy, Inc., includes subsidiaries Tankersley Foodservice, White Dairy International Military Distribution and JR’s Trucking.

Tankersley started at White Dairy Ice Cream Company in Fort Smith in 1966 and was the driving force of his family’s busness for 52 years. He passes the business along to three next generation family members, including current President Thomas Moon, who will replace Tankersley as CEO.

Company officials say they have no intent on slowing down and will soon break ground on 14 acres recently purchased next to their property in Van Buren. The new project will include four truck maintenance bays, a truck washing station and a fuel island for its 180 pieces of equipment. The company also plans to increase its distribution footprint into the Dallas market and recently opened a new office in Oklahoma City, Okla.

“We would like to thank Don for all he has done, congratulate him on an incredible career and wish him the best in his retirement,” said company officials.
