Cpl. Scotty Wooten was recently selected as the Van Buren Police Department officer of the quarter.

Wooten has been employed as a police officer with the Van Buren Police Department for more than 19 years and serves as a patrol officer.

VBPD Police Chief Jamie Hammond said Wooten was selected for the award based on his tenacity and work ethic.

According to Wooten’s supervisor, Sgt Mark McGraw, “Corporal Wooten is the senior officer on his troop and is routinely counted on to provide guidance and support to younger officers. He is a solid leader and can be counted on to fill in when I’m not available.”

Hammond said, “Cpl. Wooten is just one example of the many fine officers we have at the Van Buren Police Department and I’m pleased to be able to present him with this award.”
