Kim Allen Loughridge has announced he is seeking the Franklin County District 8 JP position, according to a news release.
Loughridge, 58, and his wife, Iva, have lived in the Vesta community for three years, although he has lived in the Charleston School District all of his life. Both Loughridge and Iva are members of Charleston First United Methodist Church, where he is a member of the trustees committee. Loughridge is also a member of the Charleston Chamber of Commerce and the Franklin County Republican Party.
Loughridge said he graduated from Charleston High School. He also attended the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith when it was Westark Community College. Loughridge retired from the Charleston Street and Sanitation Department after 28 years of service. He has been retired for five years.
There are great things happening in Franklin County, Loughridge said, such as a new jail that will be built by 2020 and new voting machines for polling places in the future.
"I have the compassion and desire to see the accomplishments completed," Loughridge said.
Loughridge said he would love the opportunity to represent Franklin County District 8. He is running as a Republican.
Yearly salary for a Franklin County JP is $2,400, according the Franklin County Clerk's Office.
