The Barling Board of Directors made progress on a current project during its regular meeting Tuesday.
The directors approved the second progress payment request from Steve Beam Construction Inc. for the sidewalk and drainage project on H Street from Arkansas 22 to Arkansas 59. In a memo that was included in the meeting packet, Barling Public Works Director Steve Core said the work is 37 percent complete as of Nov. 20. The amount due was slightly under $64,000.
In an article previously published in the Times Record, Barling City Administrator Mike Tanner said the purpose of the project is to install a sidewalk between the two highways on H Street and drainage features, among other objectives. The point of the drainage part of the project is to have a more effective storm drainage system down H Street.
The board of directors also approved a pay request from EDM Consultants for engineering services for the H Street sidewalk with drainage improvements. Core said in another memo that this was for the period from Oct. 21 through Nov. 20. The amount due was over $4,000.
The board also approved the eighth and final progress payment to Glidewell Construction Inc. for the renovation project for the new Barling city hall. Core said with the work being 100 percent complete, the amount due was over $26,000. Barling held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the new city hall Nov. 14.
The next regular Barling Board of Directors meeting is scheduled to take place Dec. 12.
