A pancake breakfast with Santa and holiday market will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, to benefit the Alma Boys and Girls Club.

Members of the Women’s Community League of Alma are hosting the event at the Boys and Girls Club at 410 E. Main St. in Alma.

A pancake breakfast with Santa from 9 a.m. to noon kicks off the event, said Jennifer Wood, treasurer for the Women’s Community League of Alma and coordinator for the event.

As a service to the community, a photographer from Heritage Portraits will be on hand to take free photos with Santa Claus, Wood said. Even those who do not want to participate in the breakfast can come get a photo with Santa, she said.

There also will be a station for children to write letters to Santa, and “Santa” will respond to the letters, Wood said.

The Women’s League is hosting the event to raise money for the Alma Boys and Girls Club, Wood said.

“We know they have a great need for funding, and we know a lot of kids in the community that use that program,” Wood said.

Breakfast plates for adults are $4 and kids plates are $3 each. Shoppers Value donated the groceries for the meal, and league volunteers will prepare the food, Wood said.

Two $250 cash prizes will be given away at the end of the event during a raffle drawing. Raffle tickets can be purchased from a Women’s League volunteer or at the event for $1 each, or six for $5.

A holiday market featuring area vendors is being held throughout the event. Vendors will be selling items such as crafts, jewelry, makeup, furniture and artwork.

Fees to rent a vendor booth, which are $20 and include one 8-foot folding table and two chairs, also add to the money raised for the club.
