Crawford County Democrats are holding their fall picnic and fundraiser on Wednesday at the home of a Van Buren couple.

The Crawford County Democratic Party picnic and fundraiser is set for Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the home of James and Margie Garner at 2804 Oliver Springs Road in Van Buren.

“Crawford County Democrats are following a long tradition in Crawford County with our fall picnic being held at the James and Margie Garner residence,” said Sheila Bell, Crawford County Democratic Party chair.

Attending the picnic will be State House Minority Whip David Whitaker and Joshua Mahony, Third District Democratic congressional candidate, as well as potential candidates for several state representative district races, Bell said.

“We are expecting a number of people from our surrounding counties to attend,” said Tom Watkins, Crawford County representative with the Democratic state committee. “We are working as regional partners this year. All of us are ready to stand united in our efforts.”

Hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings will be served at the picnic, and there will be door prizes and items available for raffle, Bell said. William Burcham and “Cajun Joe” will provide musical entertainment during the picnic, she said.

“We are looking forward to hosting some of our candidates at our picnic,” Bell said. “We want to hear from them and learn how we can help them next year.”

To attend the picnic, RSVP to ccdp@cox.net, on the CCDP Facebook page or call or text (479) 414-8976, (479) 629-2902 or (479) 806-3249. Tickets are $10 at the door.
