Chapters on Main in historic downtown Van Buren has been recognized as one of the 10 best book stores in Arkansas.
The Best of Arkansas by Americantowns Media listed Chapters on Main at 816 Main St. as No. 6 on the list.
“Located on historic Main Street in downtown Van Buren, Chapters on Main is staffed with passionate readers. This gently-used book store is a local favorite that is well-known for its Kids Loft and scheduled story times as well as for their knowledgeable “bookies” and Mama Carmen’s coffee,” the Internet post reads.
Chapters on Main is owned by Debbie and Alan Foliart.
“This a testament to people who love to read, drink coffee and share stories,” Debbie Foliart said. “Our customers love to filter through bookstores like I do when we travel. Yes, we have some wonderful loyal customers here locally, but we are seeing many people from the region drive here to see what we have and shop with us, more and more of them all the time.”
This, Foliart said, “makes me smile and know that our investment of time and money was right here at Chapters.”
The list placed Dickson Street Bookshop in Fayetteville as No. 1 on the list.
“This timeless landmark in Fayetteville is ‘where good books go to good people.’ Dickson Street Bookstore has been one of the most well-known bookstores in the Northwest Arkansas community since it was opened in 1978,” the post states.
Also on the list are WordsWorth Books and Co. in Little Rock, It’s a Mystery (IAM) Bookstore in Berryville, That Bookstore in Blytheville, Once Upon a Time Books in Tontitown, The Friendly Bookstore in Rogers, Nightbird Books in Fayetteville, The Book Worm in Little Rock and River Market Books and Gifts in Little Rock.
“Nothing puts you at ease faster than stepping into a bookstore boasting shelves of classic works and modern bestsellers. There are many great book stores and shops located throughout the Natural State, but there are few that stand out like the words on the pages of the greatest books. Grab your reading glasses and bookmarks all of you book-loving Arkansans because here’s our list of the 10 best book stores in the state,” the Americantowns Media post reads.
Debbie Foliart said, “We were so excited when our administrative assistant Joy Holman contacted us that morning and told us that we were No. 6 on the top 10 in the state for best bookstores in Arkansas. Of course, Alan and I immediately went to the Facebook page and read about the Best of Arkansas and what it said.”
